What Is The Story?

First opening on Broadway in 1947, A Streetcar Named Desire follows the life of protagonist Blanche DuBois, who leaves her aristocratic lifestyle behind after a dramatic loss leaves her penniless. She enters New Orleans French Quarter to live with her younger sister and brother-in-law, where tensions quickly reach boiling point as the couple discovers the truth about Blanche's reasons for her poverty.
