GREAT PERFORMANCE BY ALL

Diana was wonderful as were all the musicians and the symphony. If anyone knows the name of the violinist that played with Diana please share, his playing was an unexpected and very welcome surprise. I would like to see more of him.

CONFUSED

The performing arts is largely based on audience expectations. We saw the performance last evening and I was a bit confused as to Diana Krall's interactions with the audience. Was she shy or "out of it" or just an extremely talented musician into her creative sphere? The music was more improvisational jazz than what I and seemingly most people were expecting. But as Joni Mitchell famously said they didn't ask Van Gogh to paint Starry Night over and over again. Perhaps it should be advertised more by her as an evening of improvisational jazz with her trio based on standards that she has recorded to alert audiences where to set their expectations. Overall a wonderful evening of jazz.

ENJOYABLE SHOW. WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SEE A CLOSE UP OF HER PLAYING THE PIANO.

A very good show. Nice song selection and good sound/tone from all players. It would be nice to have a camera project on a screen a close up of her hands playing the piano. I sat 7 rows back stage right, she was left. All I could see of her was her head and shoulders above the piano. Could not see her playing the keys. Guitar player was right in front of me and very enjoyable watching and listening to him play. Could see drummer, obviously, and bass player playing a stand up bass. One of the joys of watching a video of a live performance is when the camera goes close up on her amazing piano playing.

DIANA KRALL AND HER BAND

Krall had a terrific set of jazz, her band mates shined in their own right. However, it's hard to say if she was feeling 100%. She seemed a little distracted at times, and the show was only 80 minutes long. The encore homage to Tony Bennett was sweet, just wish we could have heard more American songbook that they recorded together.

WONDERFUL! AUDIENCE: PLEASE DO NOT SING ALONG! OTHERWISE A 5.

Loved the performance. Fresh and new renditions of songs. Especially, a simple twist of faith. Our audience behind us was singing along, we did not pay for their renditions. What can I say…please van Wendell, stop serving alcohol, it is not needed.

KRALL NOT ENGAGED IN THE PERFORMANCE

My wife and I have been fans of Diana Krall sine 2000 love to listen to her sing; however, this past concert in Sugar Land was very disappointing. She was not engaged and let the band carry her. I bought tickets to listen to her not her bands jam session.

LET DOWN

I love Diana's albums. I did not like the live concert. Here band played a lot and she let them jam, which was good. I wanted more of her. Plus the sound was not good. At first I thought it was just me, but my wife thought the same thing and I hear others around me say the same thing as we were leaving. Love the old theater but the sound system was not good.
